Ambrotose®— II

More Aloe in Advanced Ambrotose now! Why is that so important?

aloecomplex.jpg

Meet Mannatech's Mighty Source of Mannans:
Manapol Mannans are powerful compounds whose benefits are many! They've also been critical to the success of Mannatech.

Mannans are complex, beneficial polysaccharides (carbohydrates) found in small amounts in many food plants. Few plants, however, contain mannans with as much of the sugar mannose as does aloe vera gel. Aloe vera gel, which is also rich in other sugars and beneficial polysaccharides — including pectins — is a unique source of the most revered mannan: acemannan. Many of the healing properties provided by fresh aloe vera gel have been attributed to acemannan. Acemannan has also been shown to enhance immune system function.*

Typical aloe vera gel powders are low in acemannan. Obtained by a proprietary process, Mannatech's Manapol is an aloe gel powder that is very rich in acemannan. Manapol has always been in our Ambrotose Complex powder, but it's now also in our Advanced Ambrotose products!

Now There's More Aloe in Your Advanced Ambrotose!

Advanced Ambrotose® is now even more advanced*! We've added Manapol®, a more pure and effective form of aloe vera gel extract that gives our product a more advanced glyconutrient profile, and is exclusive to Mannatech. It contains a high concentration of polysaccharides rich in the monosaccharide, mannose, which is an important glyconutrient believed to play a major role in the immunologic health benefits associated with aloe vera gel.

What Is Manapol, and Why Is it Important?

Manapol is an aloe vera gel that yields a high concentration of polysaccharides rich in mannose, which is not just an important glyconutrient, but the very glyconutrient upon which Mannatech was built. By adding Manapol to the Advanced Ambrotose®, we've increased the glyconutrient content creating a more effective product.

This more pure form of aloe vera gel has a higher molecular weight than others, and is also richer in mannose. Health benefits have been associated with intake of high molecular weight polysaccharides.

Did the Price Change?

No, the price of Advanced Ambrotose® did not change. However, the addition of a premium ingredient like Manapol adds cost to the production of the product. To add the amazing benefits of Manapol powder to Advanced Ambrotose without changing the price, we have slightly reduced the container sizes of the product. You'll notice the 75 gram containers transitioned to 60 gram containers, and the 150 gram containers transitioned to 120 gram containers. In addition, for those involved in our compensation program, you'll notice a slight decrease in APO of Advanced Ambrotose.

By adding Manapol to Advanced Ambrotose, we've added extreme value to an already extremely valuable product.

A Sweet Story — the Story of Saccharides and Cell to Cell Communication
More than likely, you've heard of and know what carbohydrates are — organic compounds composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms. But, did you know that some carbohydrates are sugars, or saccharides. Depending on the number of sugars involved, there are many different kinds of saccharides: monosaccharides, disaccharides, trisaccharides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, and they all play a huge role in our bodies.

Sugars cover the membranes of most of our cells, facilitating communication with other cells. Imagine your cells are people in an assembly line that makes telephones, and sugars are the tools the people use to make these telephone. If someone on the assembly line is missing a tool, there will be an error and the telephone probably won't work properly.

So, sugars on our cells are very important. They are key in the development and daily functions of our immune system.

Mannatech's Advanced Ambrotose® with Manapol® is rich in high molecular weight polysaccharides from aloe vera gel. Studies suggest that intake of high molecular weight polysaccharides can do good things for your immune system.*

1.The Immune System Support Triad - by Dr. Nugent - Mannatech Senior Wellness Director lecture on TNL January 22, 2013

Introductory Notes

It's been a good journey with Mannatech. In fact I will be celebrating my 18th year supporting Mannatech in March (2013) So I've been around for awhile... So we're going to talk about what I call the Immune System Support Triad. I call it the triad, because I think there are three things we need to do to support our immune systems to the optimal possible level.

I came into the office a couple of days ago, and a very old and dear friend of mine who's been taking our products almost from the beginning, she said, " You know, I'm kind of sick, I think I have an upper respiratory infection, I think I'm going to take a whole bunch of Ambrotose today". And I said, "Haven't you been taking it every day?" (And she said) "Well not every day".Ouh, OK I said, as I say to all Associates, when they say to me, "I'm going to take a bunch of Ambrotose for my immune challenge.

My first question is, "How much ImmunoStart do you take?" I always get the same reaction - I got the same reaction from my old friend that I get from all the Associates, and the reaction is something like this, (with an incredulous look) "ImmunoStart?" And of course, my first response is. There's a clue in the name, "Im-muno-Start!" Why do we call it that? We call it that because it is MT's only specifically designed immune support product! There's your clue. You have an immune challenge, what's the first thing you reach for? ImmunoStart! That's the first thing you reach for. — I want ImmunoStart to get its proper due this evening.

In my opinion, that product is the most underestimated and under sold product in our entire inventory. That product is so good that if I owned the rights to that product, and if I didn't love our company so much that I would never, ever leave it. But if I had the rights to ImmunoStart, and wanted to start my own company, I could be to in the billion dollar level in three years easily, easily! All I would have to do is sell that product correctly. Something we just never talk about - well, it starts tonight! I hope everybody---watching everywhere in the world, and all of you in the audience, I want you all to start talking about ImmunoStart correctly - because there are a lot of people who need their immune systems properly supported.

Well, the Triad is ImmunoStart, GI ProBalance, and of course, Ambrotose.

Somebody says, "GI ProBalance, what's that got to do with the immune system?" A whole bunch, in fact, about 70% Ambrotose: "Is Ambrotose good for your immune system?" Of course it is! Do we have science that documents the fact that Ambrotose supports immune function? Absolutely, no question! But Ambrotose is not specifically designed to support the immune system. It does lots of things in the body, some of which you already heard Simon talk about.

One of the most important things — perhaps the most important things about Ambrotose, is cellular communication. I want you to think about this, folks, I don't care what your state of health is, or who you are, or your age, or your gender, or your race, or where you live. If you're cells don't communicate effectively, you-can-not-be-well!

So virtually every aspect of your health is dependent on effective cellular communication, and guess what, we've been saying that since 1996, and now the most important scientific body in the United States, and perhaps in the world, the National Academy of Sciences11 have written about it, and guess what they say. "There is no disease mechanism that is not affected by glyconutrients". Do you understand what I just said.? It doesn't matter what the issue is. People want to think the medical model, and they come up and say, "I have conkess of the bonkess, what should I take?" "Ambrotose!" "I have this, what should I take?" "Ambrotose!, Ambrotose, Ambrotose, Ambrotose!" And then as people are queued up - and it sometimes goes on for hours, they're hearing in the background —"He keeps telling everybody to take Ambrotose,". Well, dah, if your cells can't communicate correctly, how can your immune system function correctly? I'll give you a brief look at how this works. I like to use a military example, not just because I was a US Marine about a million years ago. Moses was still a Lance Corp. when I was in the Marines. But I'm still looking young, thanks to the products.

27:35 I like to use the military analogy, because to me, living in the 21st century on planet earth, is a battle. To, me, I think our body is in a state of war against viruses and bacteria virtually daily. I want to give you a quick little scenario on how this works.

You have these cells in your body - let's call them scout cells, they're on patrol, they're 3.patrolling your blood stream looking for bad guys, things that don't belong in your body. And then they spot the dreaded Rhino virus. And you say, "whoa, that sounds bad!"Must be some kind of African thing. No, actually the Rhino virus is a cold. Just a simple cold. Rhino is Latin for nose, so that's what it's called.

Well, that's not a big deal for most people, So it's not some dreaded disease, really, but it will serve our example. So these scout cells, they spot the virus. Now they have to have, on their cell surface, at least eight of these glyconutrients( or sugars)in order for these scout cells to send an accurate message to the General in command at Immune System Headquarters, that says, "General, our body's been invaded, it's Rhino virus. And by the way, they look like this - because w don't want you killing healthy cells, just bad guys. That's important, isn't it? So that's a communication. And the next communication is, the General communicates to the barracks where all the soldier cells are stationed and waiting for orders. And the commander at the barracks for the soldier cells - he has all his eight glyconutrients , and the General has all his eight glyconutrients, so they can effectively communicate with each other, and the communication is, "Commander, we've been invaded. Muster the troops, go out and kill this virus". And, of course they respond with aye, aye, sir!, because they're Marines. That communication effectively tells the soldier cells to go out and to kill the bad guys. But you know they're in battle all the time, so they may have another communication. And the communication might be from the commander, saying, "General, we lost so many troops in the last battle against the last virus, that we need replacements. So, now another communication has to go out to the recruiting and training center. to make brand new soldier cells, 30:32 to support the troops in the fight against this new invasion. And that's a communication. All of this is about cellular communication. So it wouldn't matter what you were putting in your mouth.

Even the best immune product that I have ever seen in my entire professional career, called ImmunoStart. That wouldn't even be effective, unless the cellular communication was effective, because it's soldier cells have to know how to use this stuff. So that's the reason Ambrotose supports the immune system, and that's the reason whoever you are, and where ever you are, whatever your conditions are, you need to be taking Ambrotose every day. But it's not our specifically designed product for immune support.

As part of an ongoing commitment to scientific research and product validation, Mannatech collaborates with the medical and science communities and top researchers from around the world.

Members of the Mannatech Research and Development team recently presented two posters related to its Ambrotose® technology at the 9th Annual Jenner Glycobiology and Medicine Symposium.

Held at the Academie Royale de Medecine de Belgique in Brussels, Belgium on Sept. 13-15, the meeting was organized by the Royal Society of Medicine (U.K.) in association with the Rega Institute for Medical Research at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. More than 100 participants attended the meeting from Europe, Asia and the United States representing many major research groups in the area of glycobiology and medicine

The first poster presented by Mannatech showed data from a preclinical study, which showed that oral administration of Ambrotose complex had an effect on genetic expression in GI tract tissue for more than a dozen markers related to immunity. This research is important because it points specifically to a handful of genes that appear to be modulated by the Ambrotose products and fills in some of the gaps in understanding just how Ambrotose technology works in the body. This study was conducted by Eurofins/Product Safety Laboratories and the gene expression analysis was conducted by University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

The second poster showed an open-label human dosing study conducted by the St. George's University of London, funded by Mannatech, to evaluate the safety and effects of Ambrotose supplementation and demonstrated marked changes in glycoproteins circulating in the blood when Ambrotose complex is ingested. This data is very exciting for the Company, Mannatech Associates and loyal product consumers because it shows a very strong dose-response pattern which indicates a cause and effect relationship. These studies support the fact that Ambrotose technology has valid roles in human nutrition.

The result of continuing research not only provides scientific support and validation for Mannatech’s Ambrotose technology but also lays the groundwork for developing future generations of follow-on technologies.

"Our participation at this esteemed conference demonstrates that Mannatech not only values and supports quality research, but also that we are willing to share our scientific knowledge and engage in a robust dialogue around the scientific merits of our work," Dr. Robert Sinnott, chief science officer for Mannatech said.

Mannatech products are supported by a rich history of cutting-edge nutritional science with more than $20 million invested over the last five years in world-class research and development.

Mannatech will continue to provide the latest news on cutting edge science and research developments.

Larch arabinogalactan

Clinical relevance of a novel immune-enhancing polysaccharide

Kelly GS. Abstract

Larch arabinogalactan is composed of greater than 98-percent arabinogalactan, a highly branched polysaccharide consisting of a galactan backbone with side-chains of galactose and arabinose sugars.

Larch arabinogalactan is an excellent source of dietary fiber, and has been approved as such by the FDA. It has been shown to increase the production of short-chain fatty acids, principally butyrate and propionate, and has been shown to decrease the generation and absorption of ammonia.

Evidence also indicates human consumption of larch arabinogalactan has a significant effect on enhancing beneficial gut microflora, specifically increasing anaerobes such as Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus. Larch arabinogalactan has several interesting properties which appear to make it an ideal adjunctive supplement to consider in cancer protocols.

Experimental studies have indicated larch arabinogalactan can stimulate natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity, enhance other functional aspects of the immune system, and inhibit the metastasis of tumor cells to the liver. The immune-enhancing properties also suggest an array of clinical uses, both in preventive medicine, due to its ability to build a more responsive immune system, and in clinical medicine, as a therapeutic agent in conditions associated with lowered immune function, decreased NK activity, or chronic viral infection.

Fucoidans — Healthful Saccharides from the Sea!

Posted: 22 Jan 2014 09:00 PM PST

The aloe vera plant is fundamental to who we are!

While aloe vera will probably always remain center stage for Mannatech, other actors in our glyconutrient portfolio are certainly worthy of honorable mentions!

Let's take the brown alga Undaria pinnatifida (wakame) as an example. Wakame is part of the daily diet for people who live in much of Asia and coastal regions around the world. Some believe that the longevity enjoyed by the Japanese may be attributed, at least in part, to high intake of algae, including wakame (1). Wakame is also used in Chinese and Ayurvedic (Indian) traditional medicine, and in Korea, a diet rich in seaweed is given to mothers for the first month after childbirth because it is believed to provide health benefits for both mother and baby (2). Benefits of wakame and fucoidans.

Our scientists are always looking for new ingredients to expand and improve our product portfolio. In our search for potent new plant saccharides, wakame got our attention because of research showing that many of the benefits associated with wakame intake could be attributed to its saccharides (3). Specifically, fucoidans. For wakame, fucoidans are a great way to protect the plant from its wet, salty world. For people, the fucoidans in wakame provide a host of benefits, primarily supporting healthy immune system function. Wakame is also rich in other nutrients, including protein, vitamins A, C, and E, B vitamins, and some trace elements (such as iodine) (4).

Mannatech’s wakame powder—in Advanced Ambrotose® powder and capsules—is extracted from the plant’s sporophylls, reproductive structures that contain about 16 times the quantity of fucoidans than is found in the leaves (5). We stocked up on our pure, fucoidan-rich wakame, harvested from the clear waters off the coast of Tasmania, before the 2011 earthquake in Japan. While the product is very stable, we do test it every year to confirm that its fucoidan content is consistent. Once we use up our Tasmanian wakame, we’ll be purchasing from a supplier that harvests it in the South Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Argentina. Advanced Ambrotose supplement does a body good with sugars from the land and the sea!

Adding Advanced Ambrotose to your diet supports a healthy immune system and digestive function, improves memory and cognitive function and enhances mood and decreases irritability.* Both of our Advanced Ambrotose products are plant sourced and gluten-free.

Arabinogalactan – A Key Ingredient in Ambrotose® Powder Posted by Jennifer Evans on 16 December, 2014 Arabinogalactan is a word you don’t come across too often. It’s a mouthful — in more ways than one. Arabinogalactans are healthful polysaccharides and a very important ingredient in Mannatech’s Ambrotose® supplement. Polysaccharides, also known as glyconutrients, play critical roles in supporting and maintaining health and the immune system. Ambrotose complex includes patented technology and a blend of these plant-sourced polysaccharides. Ambrotose complex recognizes that your body is made up of cells, which when kept healthy, contribute to healthy bodies.* Immune-Enhancing Properties Three recent gold standard, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials have shown that Larch arabinogalactan can stimulate the adaptive immune system. Animal and human studies using arabinogalactans have demonstrated this polysaccharide’s ability to stimulate the immune system and promote gastrointestinal health. Our arabinogalactan is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). A double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trial indicates that intake of Mannatech’s arabinogalactan at a dose relevant to Mannatech’s Ambrotose powder products for 60 days improved immune system function.1 * Arabinogalactan in Nature Small amounts of arabinogalactan are present in many foods, including wheat flour, soybeans, grapes, carrots, radishes, leek seeds, tomatoes, red wine, sorghum and coconut meat and milk. The following immune-enhancing plants, such as: Echinacea purpurea (below) EchinaceaPurpureaMagnus and Curucuma longa, (below) (Curcuma longa)+1 … also contain arabinogalactan. Mannatech’s arabinogalactan is sourced primarily from the wild tamarack (larch) tree. And, you can appreciate that the company that manufactures our arabinogalactan is committed to sustainable business practices. Harvesting is done to minimize impact on the environment and the wood chips used to extract the arabinogalactan are sold back into the market for use as mulch and playground covering.
